Announcing our 2025 Event Theme!
Introducing our 2025 camp theme: Refuge!
With event teachings from Psalm 62, we’re looking forward to this theme offering encouragement and hope to our guests. Because in the midst of broken bodies, broken relationships, and a broken world, what we long for is refuge–shelter amidst the brokenness. Psalm 62 reminds that God is our refuge. He offers safety and shelter when we turn to Him.
Let’s consider 3 encouraging truths from this Refuge theme:
Finding refuge in God offers future hope. The greatest thing God shelters us from is His judgment when we find refuge in Christ through salvation, because Jesus bore it for us (Heb. 6:18-20, 2 Cor. 5:21). When we seek refuge in Him through salvation, we will find ourselves sheltered by Jesus not only now, but in the final judgment.
Finding refuge in God requires turning away from false refuges. Today, we can choose to seek refuge in God or other things. Especially when life is hard, we tend to look to relationships, physical things, pleasure, etc, for our comfort and hope. They become false refuges (Deut. 32:37). God invites us to turn from false refuges and to find refuge in Him.
Finding refuge in God solicits honesty. As we are honest with God–both about the difficulties of life and our temptation to find refuge in other things–He draws us to repent of our false refuges and look to the gospel. When we sin by seeking refuge in things other than God, we can again find shelter in Jesus through the cross (1 Jn. 2:1-2).
We hope you’ll join us this year at camp as we dig into Refuge!
“Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us.” Psalm 62:8
